    SOFTWARE HIGHLIGHTS

Software Function Database interaction Languages/features Comments
PCR worksheet creatorCreate PCR worksheets, verify samples being set up, create robotic pipetter-bound files, create sample list files for LightCycler instrument software use.

MSAccess VBA, in MSExcelHigh usage in the lab
Instrument Control AppControls a Beckman Spectropho-tometer and associated batch sampler instrument that analyzes samples, performs calculations needed to adjust the samples being analyzed, and saves the data generated electronically.

MSAccess used for instrument protocol storage. Visual Basic Daily usage for 50-100 samples
LC ReportsThis software creates results worksheets that consultants use for case signout purposes for all present and any future LightCycler based assays. Brings together data from up to 3 file sources Consolidates important information needed for case signout onto one sheet Presents all assay specific data that is relevant and necessary for the consultants to determine the result Contains an algorithm to automatically scores the result (by curve analysis) and saves all results to a database. In association with the PCRWKSHT Creator software, allows any assay ran on the LightCycler to be handled in the lab such that there is never any manual transcription of lab Ids from the assay setup right down to the final result sheet.

MSAccess to store genotype, reads several csv and text files as well
    VBA, in MSExcel Daily usage
Generic restriction enzyme (GNRIC-RE.xls)Program quickly generates instructions for setting up restriction enzyme digests for all our southern blot assays, on a robotic pipetter. Program is graphical in nature and simplifies getting the instrument to do what the user wants, reliably and correctly. Program also ensures the correct samples are being set up since it uses barcoding technology and compares samples pulled by the technologist to samples that should be setup (data gotten from our lab database).

None VBA, in MSExcel In use since 1997, used weekly
Student registration system (SRS)Web application created for a class project that provides an on-line student registration system much like a university would provide. Allows students to add and drop classes and view their grades and transcripts

Borland Interbase HTML and Java servlets Visit http://kx2.us/srs/srs.html
KBM SuppliesE-commerce-like site created for a group, class project. On-line catalog of industrial supplies, with on-line ordering and customer registration and login
